Minister of Culture, Dr. Ghassan Salamé, met in his office at the National Library-Sanayeh, in the presence of architect Jad Tabet, with the representative of the World Monuments Fund in the Arab world, Dr. Elie Flouti. They discussed activating cooperation with the Ministry regarding cultural heritage.
Following the meeting, Flouti said, "I was honored to meet Minister Salamé, whose efforts we highly appreciate to preserve our Lebanese heritage and legacy, which is our identity and civilization. This is especially true since we at the World Monuments Fund highlight human heritage, both tangible and intangible. We hope for broader cooperation between the Fund and Lebanon, a country rich in antiquities, heritage, and culture. We hope to meet again with Minister Salamé to benefit from his experience and future aspirations in this sector."
Later, the Minister of Culture received the President of the National Heritage Foundation, Ms. Mona Hrawi, and committee member Lama Salam, and discussed with them general cultural affairs, in addition to the ongoing cooperation between the Ministry and the Foundation on a number of activities.
Among Salamé’s visitors was Dr. Hashem Sarkis, Dean of the College of Engineering and Planning at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Boston. This was an opportunity to present Dr. Sarkis's projects in Lebanon and his willingness to cooperate with the Ministry.
