The Minister of Culture meets the Indian ambassador on cooperation between the two countries
The Minister of Culture Dr. Ghassan Salamé received in his office at the National Library - Sanayeh the Ambassador of India to Lebanon, Muhammad Noor Rahman Sheikh, accompanied by Mr. Biju Joseph, on a protocol visit, during which he congratulated him on assuming office, wishing him full success.
The meeting focused on bilateral relations between the two countries at different levels, especially the cultural level as well as on the preparations for the cultural event on Gibran Khalil Gibran organized next May at the National Library. The ambassador expressed the joy of the Embassy to participate given the close friendship between Gibran and the Indian philosopher Tagore noting that he Embassy of India will offer a statue of Tagore.
The ambassador expressed his hope to develop cooperation between India and Lebanon by signing a memorandum of understanding and cultural exchange between the two countries, in addition to encouraging the Lebanese to participate in the Indian and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) program funded by the Indian government.
Moreover, he said that the India's Embassy is willing to contribute to the restoration of the buildings affiliated with the ministry, including the UNESCO Palace
