MINISTER SALAMEH BROACHES CULTURAL COOPERATION PROSPECTS WITH EU AMBASSADOR

Minister of Culture, Dr. Ghassan Salameh, on Friday received European Union Ambassador to Lebanon, Sandra de Waele, with a delegation from the Embassy, in his office at the National Library – Sanayeh.
Discussions reportedly touched on number of issues related to cultural affairs and cooperation with the European Union in supporting bilateral cultural projects of common interest.
On emerging, Ambassador de Waele said that “the visit comes within the framework of renewing and strengthening the European Union's engagement with the Ministry and to establishing close coordination on shared cultural priorities."
Ambassador de Waele added: “The meeting served as an opportunity to listen to the Ministry’s current priorities and to explore possible areas for future cooperation in line with shared objectives.”
The Ambassador said: "The meeting highlighted the EU’s role as a longstanding partner in supporting Lebanon’s cultural sector, including initiatives that promote social cohesion, preserve and restore cultural heritage, and strengthen the creative economy."
De Waele concluded by sayin: "The EU underscored its ongoing support through a range of programmes, including community-based projects led by civil society organisations, restoration of cultural sites, and support for creative industries and cultural exchange."
